This session brings together contributions that highlight the key role of structural analysis—ranging from the grain scale to plate margins—in understanding and unraveling the processes of active mountain building in both present-day and ancient orogenic belts. The session is dedicated to the memory of Guido Gosso, whose passion and enthusiasm for the structural geology of mountain chains left a lasting impact. He was a pioneer in integrating multiple scales of analysis with interdisciplinary approaches across orogens worldwide. Contributions focusing on field studies, laboratory analyses, large-scale synthesis of active margins, and applications to geo-resources, across different structural levels, are welcome.
