This interdisciplinary session will address climate and environmental reconstruction, faunal turnover, biological crises in the geological record grounded on biological and sedimentological archives, as well as cutting-edge approaches to proxy calibration and data application. Records obtained from deep and near-time archives of organic and inorganic origin, embedded in marine, freshwater, and continental sediments, will help to unlock Earth's climate past across various timescales to implement hypothetical scenarios about community dynamics and geosystem responses in light of potential future climate changes. Surveys in the fields of paleontology, paleoecology, geochemistry, and stratigraphy, as well as the presentation of innovative methodologies from both experienced and early-career researchers, are welcome.
